WHAT CAN I DO?
You'd be surprised how small changes in your everyday routine can make a massive difference.
Here are a few suggestions of things you can do. Check out the WWF website for more detail:
- Install energy efficient lights - they run on a fraction of the energy.
- If you switch to digital TV, choose a TV that has the Energy Star rating.
- Don't leave your TV on standby, switch off the red light. It uses the same energy as when the TV is on!
- To save water, get any dripping taps fixed, keep your shower time as short as possible, and don't leave the tap running while brushing your teeth.
- Ditch the take-away coffee cup and get a re-usable one – Imagine how much waste and landfill we would reduce if we all do this.
- Don't buy bottled water if the tap water is safe to drink. This will cut down a lot of plastic waste and resources used in production, not to mention saving you cash!
- Car-pool – Cars have a huge impact on the environment. Why have three cars on the road when you and your friends can fit in one?
- Public transport is a great time to read, relax with some music or do some people watching. Why not use PT once a week instead of driving?
- Whenever you can, walk or ride instead of driving. The great outdoors will thank you for it!
